Our Carer Friendly staff work hard to find local offers for Carers by getting out into the community and listening directly to Carers at groups and events. In Dorset and Wiltshire that is done by our Project Assistant Karen. Maybe you have met her?  

Every conversation we have with local businesses raises awareness of Carers’ lives, and often we discover that business owners or staff are unpaid Carers themselves. 

Businesses can support in many ways: pledging a discount, explaining their service offer, displaying posters and leaflets so Carers know what’s available, or even offering space for Carer groups to meet. 

You also have a QR code on the front of the Carer ID card. By scanning it, on a camera phone businesses can quickly complete a form to join the Carer Friendly scheme. 

We really need your help to sign up more businesses in your local area. Think about your hairdresser, local café, plumber, taxi driver, tell them about the scheme and encourage them to contact us or simply scan the QR code on your card. Together, we can create more Carer Friendly Communities.

Palmer Gardens Garden Centre

Palmer Gardens is a local garden centre with an on-site café and mature walled garden. We provide meaningful work-based activities and vocational training for adults with learning and/ or physical disabilities. Everything we do has a social emphasis meaning that Palmer Gardens is a great place to catch up and make friends whilst benefiting from time spent outside with nature. 

The cafe has recently been relaunched and the newly redecorated ‘Mulberry Tree Cafe’ serves a range of homemade treats all made inhouse. From sausage rolls made using locally sourced pork from Lacock In Wiltshire to the most amazing chocolate brownies, all products are sourced locally where possible including award winning coffee from right here in Hilperton Trowbridge.  We are open 7 days a week from 10-3pm daily.
