Young Adult Carer (YAC) Support
If you’re aged 16–25 and care for someone in your family, you’re likely to be a Young Adult Carer (YAC) and help is available to ensure you have the right support to balance your caring responsibilities and your own health, wellbeing, and education. Wiltshire has a designated YAC lead providing information and support including Carers assessments to ensure you are getting all the help you are entitled too. If you are already known to Youth Action Wiltshire, then ask your keyworker about specific YAC support.
Alternately if you are 16 – 18 you can fill in our wellbeing check to access further support or if your 18+ then you can refer yourself to Carers Together Wiltshire to request YAC support.

“ YAC worker support has been nothing short of a miracle in my time of need. I self-referred to when looking for support. For six years I was stuck in a loop of caring for my dad and my mental health was taking a toll. Since the YAC worker has been supporting me, have been supported to join a gym and have a sense of self and community which is something I had not had for a very long time. I am currently in the process of learning to drive which is life changing. I cannot thank them enough for the amazing support given to me”
