Carer Friendly Wiltshire: A Year in Review 2025
Recognising yourself as a Carer is often the first step towards accessing support, information and opportunities that can make caring easier.
Carer Friendly Wiltshire is a digital-first, countywide service supporting unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers to access information, resources and support. Through digital tools, a Carer Friendly ID Card and a growing network of Carer Friendly organisations, the service helps Carers feel recognised and connected to support across Wiltshire.
Our Impact Review 2025 highlights the support provided through the service during the past year and the difference it is making for Carers across Wiltshire, alongside the wider work being delivered by Forward Carers across the West Midlands and Southwest.
Why do we produce an Impact Review?
At Forward Carers, we believe that measuring impact is about much more than counting activities or reporting statistics.
Our Impact Review helps us understand whether support is making a difference in Carers’ lives, what we’re learning and where we can improve. It also helps us remain accountable to commissioners, funders, partners and the Carers who help shape our services through their feedback and experiences.
What does the review tell us about Wiltshire?
During 2025:
- More than 45,000 users accessed Carer Friendly Wiltshire digital content
- 16,313 resource views were recorded
- 867 Carers registered for a Carer Friendly ID Card
- 44 organisations signed up as Carer Friendly partners
These figures highlight the value of accessible digital support in helping Carers recognise their caring role, find information and connect with support wherever they live across Wiltshire.
Supporting Carers Through Digital Innovation
Wiltshire is a large and predominantly rural county, which can make accessing support more challenging for some Carers.
By providing information, resources and support online, Carer Friendly Wiltshire helps ensure that Carers can access help at a time and place that works for them. The service offers guidance on a wide range of topics, including Carer rights, financial support, health and wellbeing, employment and local services.
Alongside digital support, the Carer Friendly ID Card helps Carers feel recognised and provides reassurance that key information can be accessed in an emergency. The card forms an important part of helping Carers feel identified, supported and prepared.
Shaped by Carers
A key feature of the service is its focus on co-production.
During the year, Young Carers helped shape digital content and resources, ensuring information reflected their experiences and was accessible to other young people with caring responsibilities.
One Young Carer shared:
“The Young Carers page is informative… it is definitely a good website to use!”
Alongside supporting individual Carers, the service continued to work with employers, businesses and community organisations to create a more Carer Friendly Wiltshire. During the year, 44 organisations joined the Carer Friendly network, helping raise awareness of caring and strengthen support available across local communities.
